Recently, Brother Frederick Frato, a member of Glazier’s Local Union 1009, was working in the parking deck at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. It was just another day on the job and Brother Frato was in the middle of putting away tools to wrap up for the day, when a gentleman exited the elevator in Fred’s vicinity. Brother Frato noticed that something wasn’t quite right, as the individual was pacing and seemed distraught. He attempted to speak to the man, checking to see if he was okay, but the gentleman ignored Fred’s attempts at conversation. As Fred continued to work, he kept an eye on the situation. When the gentleman suddenly attempted to climb over a short wall in an apparent attempt to jump off of the parking deck, Fred sprang into action! He immediately ran over, grabbed the man and wrapped his arms around him. As Fred spoke to the gentleman, assuring him that everything would be okay, he slowly guided him towards the center of the parking deck – away from the edge. A policeman, security guard, and fellow brothers who were working with Fred, responded to his pleas for assistance and helped to diffuse the situation.

Brother Frato’s brave actions and quick response were recognized by Riverview and he was presented with a “Good Catch” award. Good Catch awards are given to individuals across many Hackensack Meridian Hospitals for “catching something before it becomes a safety event, or causes emotional or physical harm.” District Council 711 would also like to recognize Brother Frato for his heroic actions. Well done, brother!

We know that he is the leader we need to get the economy right and who will support DC 711 and all the working families of New Jersey.”

Ambassador Murphy addressed the room filled with representatives, delegates, local union officers, and members. He shared with them his plans to revitalize the economy, the importance of lead remediation and safety, and workers misclassification in New Jersey. “It is a great honor to be here”, said Murphy. “I deeply thank you and appreciate your support.”
